What is JESUS’ will for us?

I spent my life looking for answers on what is JESUS’ will for me and what should I do with my life. I yearn for a happy, content and fulfilled life and I have this deep longing inside me for a better purpose. Until one night, while I was praying JESUS revealed to me His will. He told me that His will is to save us because He loves us so much. Check this verse in  1 Timothy 2:3-4 which say, “This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Since JESUS’ ultimate will is to save us, He wants us to receive His gift of salvation. We first have to believe that He died on the cross to save us from hell and sin. We should as well make a firm decision to turn away from sin and obey Him. Then we should establish a loving and faithful relationship with Him above others. Take note of this verse in Matthew 22:37-38 which say, “And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.” In other words, He wants us to seek and love Him first because it is the first and greatest commandment. He reminded me of this verse in Matthew 6:33 which say, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” He told me that I should have a loving relationship with Him first before minding the things of this world. And that I should love Him first and obey His commands. He added that glorifying and pleasing Him should be my purpose and priority. On the other hand, if your desire hampers your salvation He will not grant it; like desiring worldly treasures and pleasures. It is said in 1 John 2:15-17 “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father^[a] is not in them. ¹⁶ For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. ¹⁷ The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever”.

So, what shall we do to be saved then? First, we should believe that JESUS is our One True Living GOD (1 John 5:20) and He died for the atonement of our sins (1 John 2:2), then accept Him as our GOD and SAVIOR, then confess with our mouth that He is LORD and believe in our heart that GOD raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). If you are an unbeliever and wants to believe and receive JESUS in your heart now and have decided to make Him your LORD and Savior and obey His commands, please pray this simple prayer:

LORD JESUS, our ever-loving God and Father, I believe that You are our One and only true living God. I believe that You died on the cross to save me from sin. Thank You for saving me LORD. Please forgive me from all my sins and cleanse me from all my unrighteousness. I repented my sins. Please come into my heart and be my LORD and SAVIOR. I love You LORD. Amen.

So now that you have prayed that prayer sincerely and have made JESUS your LORD and SAVIOR, change your purpose. Make loving Him your purpose. You can best express your love for Him by obeying Him and His commands in the Bible. I prayed that prayer too many times before. And, I was never wrong to believe, accept, and follow JESUS. He revealed Himself to me. He guided me and accompanied me every day. He took all my shame, guilt, insecurities, confusions, loneliness, emptiness, sickness and sins away. He made me whole again and gave me rest for my weary and tired soul. He changed my ways, my priorities, and my life. He gave me peace, good health, and a sound mind. And, most of all he gave me an abundant and joyful life.

You might say, okay I know that JESUS wants to save me but what should I do with my life? My answer is, you should pray and tell JESUS that you want to commit yourself or make a conscious decision to love and follow Him. Do not be afraid of responsibilities for He will guide you and instruct you in the way you should go (Psalm 32:8). Communicate with JESUS often, tell Him your worries and plans and give Him your time. Ask for His guidance and wisdom and wait patiently for His answers to your prayer. Wait even if it will take one whole day for Him to answer just sit or kneel there and wait. Remember praying is not only you talking but it also means JESUS talking to you. So take time to listen and wait. You should read your Bible also and put into practice the things that you have read and everything in your life will turn out fine. This is God's will for you. Believe and be saved. Don't worry about what to eat or what to wear the Lord already knows that you need them (Matthew 6:31). But seek and serve Him first and you will be satisfied and you will live an abundant life. This is what I did and I never regret that I sought JESUS and followed Him. He is so nice and a very good companion. 

If you do the will of God, you will not only live forever with Him in heaven but you will have a happy (Psalm 112:1), abundant and secure life here on earth. Just like what JESUS said in Jeremiah 29:11 that He wants us to prosper and have a good future not to harm us but to give us hope. So we should trust in Him, hold on to His promise and rely on Him completely. Don't doubt, just believe. Moreover, He also wants us to love one another as He has loved us. It is also JESUS’ will that we give thanks to Him in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18). It is His will also that we should be sanctified and that we should avoid sexual immorality (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Moreover, He wants us to be filled with the Spirit. In addition, He wants us to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him (Micah 6:8).

To put it briefly, the LORD JESUS wants us to be saved. So we should seek Him first and have a faithful and loving relationship with Him first above anyone and anything else. Always remember this verse Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money”. So, seek JESUS not money because when you love JESUS first, He will give you the things that you need in order to survive because He loves you. He wants you to believe that He is the all-powerful, ever-living, ever-loving and everlasting GOD who loves us and always takes care of us and our needs. He wants us to submit to His Lordship. He also wants us to spend time communicating with Him and doing the things that please Him like loving our neighbors and forgiving the people who have hurt us. He wants to make our relationship with Him our priority and make Him our priority in every decision we make.

In all your decisions, consider this verse: 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”. JESUS’ purpose for creating us is that we will give Him glory (Isaiah 43:7). Before making any decision, ask yourself if it will make God happy or not. If not, do not do it. Therefore, we should focus on our salvation because that is JESUS' will for us. So, it is important to marinate yourself in God’s word in the Bible so you will be guided in all the things that you do and attend church services in a bible-based church so you will grow in faith and love.
