10 important reasons why we need to read and obey the Bible

Hi there, my dear reader! If you are a Christian and a devout believer of JESUS CHRIST, you maybe are reading the Bible daily. However, if you are not a believer yet, you might be finding some reasons why some people believe it is important to read and obey the Bible. Whoever you are I am telling you that it is very important to read and obey the Bible. Here are the reasons why:

1.) It is the Word of GOD and it is truth.

John 17:17 tells us that the Word of GOD is truth. So if you are in doubt if the things written in the Bible are true it is now time to reject all your doubts and replace it with belief, acceptance, and obedience.

2.) It is our guide to life and living.
Psalms 119:105 says Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. It means the Bible contains all of the LORD JESUS’ important instructions to us that will help us live life better. In the Bible, we can find helpful pieces of advice on how to deal with problems, persecutions, anger, heartaches, worry, fear, doubt, sickness, and most of all how to love.

3.) It will make us successful.
The LORD JESUS commanded in Joshua 1:8 this, Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Everything in the universe operates by a law set by our Creator and LORD JESUS CHRIST. Like for example a fish is set to live in the ocean. If you try to remove it from there and put it on a dry land, it will die. It is like that with us humans. The LORD has given us the Bible which is the Book of His law as our guide to successful living. If we try to disobey the Law that He has given us, we will fail and become miserable and sad.

4.) It nourishes our soul and gives us peace.
It is said in Matthew 4:4 that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of GOD. Reading and obeying everything written in the Bible give us nourishment. Because it is our soul and that guides the body. So it needs to be nourished like the body is nourished by food. As the LORD JESUS said in John 6:63 this, The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.” In other words, GOD'S Words give us life therefore, we should feed our soul with it by reading and obeying it. It also gives us peace as one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

5.) It instructs us on the right thing to do.
Psalm 119:9 says this, How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.” It means the Bible serves as GOD'S instruction manual for us to follow. It gives us ideas on how we can live a godly, holy, and pure life that is pleasing to the LORD JESUS.

6.) It is a mine of GOD’S promises and encouragements.
If you read the Bible, you will notice that it is full of GOD'S promises, comforting words, and helpful advice that give us insights and encouragement during down times. One good promise of the LORD is found in Hebrews 13:5 which say, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because GOD said, 'never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.'” Another hope-giving promise of the LORD JESUS is found in Revelation 2:7 which say, Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” The LORD JESUS promised that He will let us eat the fruit of the tree of life in heaven if we obey and follow Him.

7.) It can change our lives.
Reading the Bible renews our mind. The LORD JESUS reminded us in Romans 12:2 this, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” It means reading GOD'S Word which is the Bible changes our beliefs and attitude towards certain topic or issue. It gives us a fresh new perspective towards righteousness and sin thereby changing the way we act and react to different situations. When our mind is renewed and our beliefs and attitudes changed as a result of Bible reading and obedience to it, our lives changed too. We become more secure, happy, satisfied, which are the attributes of a person who is saved.

8.) It helps us know our GOD JESUS CHRIST more.
The Bible tells us a lot about our GOD JESUS CHRIST starting from the creation of the universe to salvation and to Apostle John' vision of CHRIST'S second coming in the Book of Revelation. It reveals us that our GOD JESUS CHRIST is a good and loving GOD because He didn't want us to just die and vanish. He wants us to live with Him in heaven eternally so He made Himself a body, walk on this earth, preached, died, and rose again on the third day so that we will be saved from sin and hell.

9.) It helps us know JESUS’ will.
GOD'S perfect will which is to save us is written in the Bible. It is found specifically in 1 Timothy 2:3-4. It says, This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” The LORD wants us to be saved so He gave us not just the 10 commandments which reveals His perfect and pleasing will for us all but the new commandments too in the New Testament which is to love Him first and love our neighbors as ourselves.

10.) It helps us stay away from sin and overcome all attacks of the enemy.
Since the Bible contains commands from the LORD JESUS, it gives us knowledge and wisdom and convicts our hearts to obey His commands and not sin. If we control ourselves and our worldly desires and make every efforts to obey all of the LORD'S commands, our relationship with Him becomes stronger. Then the LORD will bless us and reward us with eternal life.

Thank you so much, my dear reader for taking time reading this article. I hope you now know the reason why we should read and obey the Bible. I pray that the LORD JESUS will give you the burning desire and interest to read and obey the Bible. I love you with the love of the LORD. May the GOD of peace bless you abundantly. LORD JESUS, thank You so much for giving me this topic to write about for my readers and for helping me write this piece. All glory, honor, highest praises, and thanksgiving are Yours, my most loving and gracious GOD.

Is JESUS our GOD?

Have you ever asked yourself who JESUS is? And, have you ever wondered if He is our GOD?  If your answer is yes, then this article is for you. By the way, I used to believe that the LORD JESUS is just the Son of GOD and not GOD Himself. But, after attending some church services in a Christian Pentecostal church in college, I started to question who the real GOD is and what is His Name. Fortunately, last night that question was answered and revealed to me by the LORD JESUS. As I was reading an article about baby JESUS on the Bible app for kids which is called Superbook, I ran across a verse found in 1 Corinthians 12:3 which says tbis, "So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse JESUS, and no one can say JESUS is LORD, except by the HOLY SPIRIT." We can learn from this Bible verse that JESUS is our One and Only True Living GOD. And, no one can confess that He is GOD except when the person is guided by the Holy Spirit. On the other han...

The Gift of Salvation: The True Meaning of Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching and some people think Christmas is about receiving gifts. They think about the presents, the decorations, and the parties. They are missing out on what Christmas is really about. The true meaning of Christmas is the gift of salvation. It's about knowing that the world is full of despair and knowing that there is someone out there waiting to save you. It's about not being alone. It's about waiting for someone to come and show you the true meaning of Christmas. And only JESUS has made the biggest move to save us from all the troubles that we experience everyday. The true meaning of Christmas is the gift of salvation. This is the reason why the Christmas tree is decorated with evergreen and holly, because these plants represent eternal life. The Christmas tree is also decorated with other greenery because it represents the nature of the world. The Christmas tree is decorated with lights and ornaments, because they represent the light o...

What is JESUS’ will for us?

I spent my life looking for answers on what is JESUS’ will for me and what should I do with my life. I yearn for a happy, content and fulfilled life and I have this deep longing inside me for a better purpose. Until one night, while I was praying JESUS revealed to me His will. He told me that His will is to save us because He loves us so much. Check this verse in  1 Timothy 2:3-4 which say, “This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Since JESUS’ ultimate will is to save us, He wants us to receive His gift of salvation. We first have to believe that He died on the cross to save us from hell and sin. We should as well make a firm decision to turn away from sin and obey Him. Then we should establish a loving and faithful relationship with Him above others. Take note of this verse in Matthew 22:37-38 which say, “ And he said to him,   “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with a...
