What does JESUS want us to do?

Once in my life I asked myself this question, what does the LORD JESUS want me to do? I was so caught up with all of life's concerns before; like finding a job, providing my family's needs, and getting rich. Until one day, my cousin Nelfa brought me a book, The Purpose Driven Life written by Pastor Rick Warren. I read it and it changed my perspective and view about JESUS, life, and my purpose.

In summary, the book says that the meaning and purpose of life come not from focusing on ourselves but from knowing and working with the author of life, namely God-JESUS CHRIST. It is also written in that book that we are planned for God's pleasure and His purpose for creating us is for us to bring Him glory. Let us check this verse in Isaiah 43:7 which say, They are my own people, I created them to bring me glory.” That is mainly what JESUS wants us to do, to glorify Him or to bring Him glory.

Listed here below are the top ten things that JESUS want us to do that will bring Him glory:

1.) He wants us to believe and confess that He is GOD and He is good.
This is written in Hebrews 11:6,And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.". For us to please and glorify JESUS, we first need to believe that He is real, He exists and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Also, this verse in Acts 16:31 says that we will be saved if we believe in our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Here it is, “They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Aside from believing, He as well wants us to confess that He is our One and Only True Living GOD. Let us meditate on this verse in Romans 10:9 which say, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” The word LORD is the synonym of the word GOD as revealed to me by the Holy Spirit. Therefore believe and confess Him as your GOD now. We should as well believe that He is good and He is approachable. His plans are for the best and He never causes us pain. Instead, He died to save us and give us eternal life and peace.

2.) He wants us to repent and be baptized.
The LORD JESUS wants us to turn away from sin and live a new godly life of faith and obedience to Him. Let us examine this verse in Matthew 4:17 which say, “From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” He also wants us to be baptized. Let us believe in this verse in John 3:5 which say, “Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. So, come to the LORD JESUS now, confess your sins, promise to follow Him, commit not to sin anymore, then be baptized. If you do these, the LORD JESUS will be pleased and glorified and you will be saved and guided while on earth. You can also pray this sinner's prayer:
  • LORD JESUS, I believe that You are the One and Only True Living GOD. I also believe that You died on the cross, on the third day you rose again, and you will come to judge the living and the dead. Thank you for dying on the cross LORD to save me from my sins. Please forgive me and cleanse me from all my unrighteousness. I repented my sins. Please come into my heart and be my LORD and SAVIOR. I love You, LORD JESUS. Amen.
3.) He wants us to love Him.
It is JESUS' first and greatest commandment that we should love Him above all. Matthew 22:37-38 says this, “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” It is also written in Hosea 6:6 that JESUS wants our love and He also wants us to know Him more. Here is the verse, “For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” We can best show our love for Him by obeying His commands in the Bible. This is written in John 14:15, “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.” We can also show our love for Him by praising Him and worshiping Him. Check this verse in Psalm 100:2 which say, Worship the LORD with joy; come before him with happy songs!

4.) He wants us to love others.
It is JESUS' second commandment that we should love our neighbors as ourselves. Mathew 22:39 says this, And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 1 John 4:21 also says this, “And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.” We can love others by being kind, respectful, helpful, generous, forgiving, humble, and by leading them to JESUS.

5.) He wants us to always talk to Him and pray.
The LORD JESUS reminded us that we should pray in 2 Chronicles 7:14. He said, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Ephesians 6:18 also says this,And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Since the LORD wants us to love Him, He wants us to spend time praying and communicating with Him; because love cannot exist without communication. Therefore we should make it a hobby to pray and talk to Him on all occasions so that He will be pleased and grant our requests.

6.) He wants us to thank Him always.
The LORD JESUS said in Psalm 50:23 this, But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God." always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20 also says this, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Therefore, let us give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever (Psalms 118:29). When we are thankful, JESUS is honored and pleased and He will bless us more abundantly.

7.) He wants us to obey His commands.
Obedience to JESUS' commands is the true sign of our love for Him. JESUS said this in John 14:15, “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.” Also, Ecclesiastes 12:13 says this, Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” It is our whole duty to obey JESUS. When we do that, the LORD will bless us (Luke 11:28) and will make us happy. Consider this verse in Psalm 112:1 which say, “Happy is the person who honors the LORD, who takes pleasure in obeying his commands.

8.) He wants us to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Him.
This is what the LORD JESUS wants us to do as found in Micah 6:8. It says, “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” He wants us to be fair and treat everyone fairly, to be merciful with others, and to be always humble. Philippians 2:3 says this, Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”

9.) He wants us to become like Him.
1 John 2:6 says this, the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” Also, Romans 8:29 says this,For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Therefore, in all the things that we do especially with our relationship with JESUS and others, we should have the same attitude as the LORD JESUS have – a humble, merciful, compassionate, loving, and obedient attitude. He didn't mind dying on the cross just to save us. He humbled Himself even to the point of death just to give us eternal life. So, we should imitate Him as He said in Matthew 4:19, “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

10.) He wants us to align our will to His.
JESUS' will is to save us, therefore, let us do the things that would lead us to salvation like accepting His gift of eternal life, believing in Him and His Words in the Bible, confessing that He is GOD, and obeying Him. We should as well share the gospel of salvation to others and lead them to CHRIST.

Thank you so much, my dear reader, for taking time reading this piece. I hope it is clear with you now the things that JESUS wants us to do. I love you with the love of the LORD JESUS. I pray you'll be blessed more abundantly with peace, hope, and joy. Happy New Year! God bless. Thank you so much LORD JESUS for helping me write this piece. I love You LORD. All glory, honor, highest praises, and thanksgiving belong to You.

Is JESUS our GOD?

Have you ever asked yourself who JESUS is? And, have you ever wondered if He is our GOD?  If your answer is yes, then this article is for you. By the way, I used to believe that the LORD JESUS is just the Son of GOD and not GOD Himself. But, after attending some church services in a Christian Pentecostal church in college, I started to question who the real GOD is and what is His Name. Fortunately, last night that question was answered and revealed to me by the LORD JESUS. As I was reading an article about baby JESUS on the Bible app for kids which is called Superbook, I ran across a verse found in 1 Corinthians 12:3 which says tbis, "So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse JESUS, and no one can say JESUS is LORD, except by the HOLY SPIRIT." We can learn from this Bible verse that JESUS is our One and Only True Living GOD. And, no one can confess that He is GOD except when the person is guided by the Holy Spirit. On the other han...

The Gift of Salvation: The True Meaning of Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching and some people think Christmas is about receiving gifts. They think about the presents, the decorations, and the parties. They are missing out on what Christmas is really about. The true meaning of Christmas is the gift of salvation. It's about knowing that the world is full of despair and knowing that there is someone out there waiting to save you. It's about not being alone. It's about waiting for someone to come and show you the true meaning of Christmas. And only JESUS has made the biggest move to save us from all the troubles that we experience everyday. The true meaning of Christmas is the gift of salvation. This is the reason why the Christmas tree is decorated with evergreen and holly, because these plants represent eternal life. The Christmas tree is also decorated with other greenery because it represents the nature of the world. The Christmas tree is decorated with lights and ornaments, because they represent the light o...

What is JESUS’ will for us?

I spent my life looking for answers on what is JESUS’ will for me and what should I do with my life. I yearn for a happy, content and fulfilled life and I have this deep longing inside me for a better purpose. Until one night, while I was praying JESUS revealed to me His will. He told me that His will is to save us because He loves us so much. Check this verse in  1 Timothy 2:3-4 which say, “This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Since JESUS’ ultimate will is to save us, He wants us to receive His gift of salvation. We first have to believe that He died on the cross to save us from hell and sin. We should as well make a firm decision to turn away from sin and obey Him. Then we should establish a loving and faithful relationship with Him above others. Take note of this verse in Matthew 22:37-38 which say, “ And he said to him,   “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with a...
